Trial fit of the U-403 Brake Mounting Flange - Left Gear Leg You don't really have to do this, but I wanted to see how hard it is to get this flange on to the left gear leg. I had to a little oil on it to get it on. NOTE: All the entries on this page are for the left gear leg.
Time to final drill the holes on the flange NOTE: The instructions say: "The hole through one side of the U-403 is still undersize, so, before final installation, pass a 5/16" drill through the assembly. Now install the Allen head screw that secures the brake flange to the axle." WRONG: There is one more thing that to do add to the flange before it can be installed on the axle. I final drilled the holes and waited before mounting the flange to the axle. Keep reading...

Found all the nuts, bolts and washers Notice that the drawing says "Some parts not shown for clarity". I think that the part that is not shown is the flange that is already welded to the mounting flange itself. I think the part that is shown is the flange of the brake mounting plate, which IS a tight fit against the washer and bolt.

Made the U-408 spacers There''s a small bit of tubing that comes with the kit that has to be cut into these small spacers.
Mounted the brake mounting plate This dude did not want to go on.You'll notice that I sanded the interior of the brake mounting plate a bit to get it mounted to the U-403 Brake Mount. The drawings don't indicate which way the brake mounting is supposed to go on.
Put the bolts and spacers on You''ll notice that one bolt is shorter than the rest and doesn''t have a spacer. That is because it doesn''t bolt to the U-810 Wheel Fairing Mount (coming next).
Bolted everything together Here''s the whole ball all of wax, with the U-810 Wheel Fairing Mount attached.
Everything bolted to the left gear leg NOTE: All of the pictures on this page are of the left gear leg. When I looked at other builders website pictures, sometimes it was hard to determine whether you were looking at the left or right gear leg.
Here's a video I did on this part of the building process
