 What an evening for RV work!
I opened up the garage door and let all the fresh air in. This evening it's around 66 degrees and the air is still. The sounds of birds singing and childred at play flow gently into the garage and blend nicely with my favorite tunes as they play softly on the stereo. My fathers day coffee cup, sitting on the workbench, couldn't have said it better "I'd rather be in my garage".

 Time to make the F-684 gussets
For such a small part, it really has a lot measurements to figure out to get all the cutouts and holes just right. I almost hated to cut into it after all marks where made. It looked like a nice blueprint.

If I would have taken a pic here, it would have been of the rut in the garage floor I made by walking back and forth from the fuselage the vise on the work bench, trying to put in the correct bends in this gusset (otherwise known as cuss-it). Turns out the suggested bend lines on the horizontal flange aren't exactly where the plans suggest. This is hard to explain. I just had to keep at it until it fit just right. After I got the bends like I wanted them, I clamped the gusset in place and drilled the horizontal holes, using the outside skin as drilling guide. Then, to get the vertical holes, I removed enough clecos from the outside skin to get my angle drill in place to drill the holes into the firewall angle piece.

 Done!

 Went ahead and put in the nut plate
Knowing that I would probably forget, I went ahead and primed the gusset and installed the nut plate.

 Started work on the F-902-L&R Forward Bulkheads
The flanges on these bulkheads have to be fluted in order to make the pre-drilled holes line up with the pre-drilled holes in the outside skin. I also enlarge the pre-drilled hole for the rudder cable with my Unibit.

 Intalled the nut plates
I decided to use the old C-Frame to put in the dimples for the nutplates in the bulkheads. I also dimpled the nutplates with my monster hand squeezer from ATS.

 Trial fitted the F-9101 Gear Attach Web
Yep, it needs some trimming. The bottom aft edge of the web was pushing the short longeron down a little, messing up the alignment of the holes already drilled into it from the outside skin. I probably shaved off maybe less than 1/16" off the bottom edge of the F-9101 to get a good fit. I also had to do some slight trimming of the F-902-L&R bulkheads to make them fit nicely around the stiffeners and short longerson. I'm tired. I will finish drilling this dude tomorrow.
