Time to get back at it I started working today on some of the canopy components, mainly the canopy tracks and the rear slider block.
Drilled the initial holes in the C-657 Canopy Track The holes are #40 holes and will be drilled to a larger diameter later. They will be used as pilot holes to drill the final holes into the F-721B side decks of the fuselage. The instructions were a little vague and it took me a while to figure out where to drill these initial holes.
Clamped the C-657 Canopy Track to the F-721B canopy decks The drawings show where to drill the holes, but not where to clamp the tracks down. Only a vague drawing displays their position. I did a search on VansAirForce.com forum and found an entry that said that the canopy itself determines where the exact position of the C-657 canopy tracks will be. I''ll figure that out when I get to that part.

Time to drill the C-661 Rear Slider Block I found out real fast that this plastic block bends over when you try to drill a hole in it. So, I clamped a block of wood on top of another, allowing one end to stick out and serve as a support when drilling the hole in the plastic slider block.
Drilled the holes into the canopy to hold the slider The holes I drilled into the plastic slider served as a template for drilling the holes into the canopy.
Just for grins... I put the canopy on to see how the rollers would ride inside the canopy tracks. This will have to be taken apart in the next building session, I''''m sure. I''''m still amazed at how well all the parts in this RV fit together.
Another shot of how it will look. I stuck a 2x2 in the back to hold the canopy where it will go. Pretty cool.

Time for pie! YUM!!
