Started work on the Elevator Push RodStarted work on the Elevator Push Rod
Yes, I've lost my mind and started drawing pictures. NOT! Actually this is my idea for marking the end pieces on the push rod where the pop-rivets will go. I simply put the push rod ends down on the drawing and transferred the marks with a fine sharpie.

Here, I just held the end piece outside the tube and "eye-balled" where the middle was in the flange of the end piece that goes inside the tube.

I grabbed and old 2x2 and sliced it down the middle on my bandsaw and then glued and nailed the pieces to a 1x4. This jig will keep the pushrod from moving whilest I'm a' drillin'.

Here, I just lined up the drill bit with the marks on the end piece and the marks on the tube.
Time for a trial fitTime for a trial fit
The instructions say to make the fit "vertical". Vertical to what? The bottom of the fuselage or the garage floor? Ah-hah, I found my answer. There is a hole in the lower rib that allows you put in a 3/8" socket for tightening the bottom bolt for final installation. So I just did a visual lineup with that to get the top aligned.
