 The heat has finally subsided. Back to work!
Before I could get back at, I needed to drill a couple of holes that I missed. Somehow I missed the 5/8" hole in this rib in the baggage compartment. However, none of my drills will fit in this space. So I'm off to "Second" Home Depot. My wife calls it Second Home Depot because it's my favorite hangout.

 Yep, and here's the solution
Yes folks, for only $19.97 you can own the Ronco, uh... I mean the Milescraft around the corner drill attachment! It dices, splices and even makes Julian fries! So simple even a programmer analyst can use it. Wait... that's me. Anyway, it's just what the doctor ordered and worked great.

 While we're talking about holes...
I had one of the radiant barrier folks come out and give an estimate on painting that silver stuff on the bottom side of the roof in the attic. He went up into the attic and yelled "Damn, it's really hot up here". My immediate mental response was "Well duh, it's an attic in August, dummy". Then he brought down his thermometer and it showed 158 degrees. "You have no air flow whatsoever up there and we can fix that!" he exclaimed. After he dropped off his estimate, filled with a long list of things that were wrong with our attic, I decided to do some investigating of my own. I went outside and pulled off one of the soffit vents. The picture shows what I found. The hole in the soffit board was incredibly small! A testiment to the old saying "Well, I can't see it from my house".

 Time to take money... I mean matters into my own hands
I made the hole bigger, leaving just enough room around the edges to screw the soffit vent back on. Now, that I could see up into the attic, I noticed that the %^&* builder had shoved a batt of insulation all the way to outer edge of the wall and roof, blocking the air flow from the vent into the attic. I cut off just enough of the batt of insulation to allow some airflow from the vent into the attic. Of course, at this time, my neighbor wanders over and wants to know why I have my head shoved up a soffit vent hole while cursing like veteran sailor. I showed him what I had found and he immediately went off to check his soffit vents (same builder). If you look at the drawings below, you'll see just how a soffit vent is supposed to work. The attic has been like this for over 10 ten years, without me being aware of the issue. It took me a couple of days to change out all 16 soffit vents, but I gotter' done. My father and I built many houses while I was growing up and we would never let something like this happen. I guess there's no honor among some builders anymore. Damn shame.
