Bolted the fire wall in place. Bolted the fire wall in place.
No biggy here. I checked Van's torque chart reference guide and tighten everything up.

The instructions don't mention doing this, but it seems to be the next logical step.

There are a lot of counter sinks here that need priming before putting on the forward bottom skin.

I've seen on some others builders websites that they didn't rivet the skin to the firewall at this stage of the forward assembly, but I'm not sure why. Maybe one of yous guys out there in radio land could email me and tell me why.
UPDATE - 10/20/2010: I discovered later that I should have riveted the back row of rivets into the bottom angle piece behind the firewall. However, I was right in not riveting the firewall forward flange on the bottom and the side. It was really tough to rivet the firewall angle piece later. The outer flange is left un-riveted until much later when you install the cowling hinges.
